"Italian-born and raised, I grew up in Piemonte, a region in the north, farmed for truffles, red wine, and cheese, developing a passion for food at a young age. I have always enjoyed taking local produce to create new dishes and flavor combinations to share with friends and family.
"After working at the local newspaper for many years reporting on food, wine and festivals, as well as local sport (my other true passion in life), I decided to swap the idyllic rolling hills of northern Italy for the sunny beaches and crystal blue waters of Sydney.
"Since arriving in Australia in November 2014, I have been working in local restaurants as a chef de partie. To name but a few, Barbetta Cucina - where I could further my creativity by running cooking classes as Head Chef - and award-winning Italian restaurant, I Maccheroni, in Woollahra, where I worked for a year during the beginning of COVID-19. You need to have a background in that cuisine to be able to cook authentic Italian food and lucky for me, growing up in Northern Italy, that comes naturally.
"It was here that I met Marcello Farioli, chef and owner of this incredible restaurant, who offered me charge of the kitchen while also supporting me in my new adventure as a personal chef.
"Fast forward to 2020 and the hospitality industry was hit hard due to the pandemic. This challenging time gave me the opportunity to think honestly about my future, and so, the idea of “MichelONE at home” was born. Now it’s time to start a new adventure by becoming your very own private chef at home…
"I can't wait to start hosting cooking classes again at home and creating unique gastronomic delights for Chefly diners. I'm sure we are all counting down the days until the restrictions ease, but I am using this time wisely and testing out some inspired new menus to whet your appetite!"
